5 Pillars of Health

Chiropractic

“Look well to the spine for the cause of disease.” – Hippocrates
Chiropractic is the foundational pillar. Chiropractic is a philosophy, science, and art. Philosophy is what we believe and why we believe it. Science is what has been proven through research and clinical outcomes over many years. The art refers to the specificity of the chiropractic adjustment. Chiropractic principles are based on the fact that the health of the human body is completely dependent on the function of the nervous system. The nervous system controls every organ and cell in your body. A properly functioning nervous system allows your body to function at its very best! By restoring nervous system function with chiropractic care, anything is possible with health.

Mindset

“Thoughts become things. If you see it in your mind, you will hold it in your hand.” – Bob Proctor

Mindset refers to your attitude. Stress is a fact of life. Your mindset will determine how well you handle this stress. When you’re stressed, the muscles in your neck and upper back become tight. This tension can cause subluxation. So, while chiropractic care removes subluxations, you must do your part to maintain a positive mindset to minimize the negative impact that can come with the stress experienced in your daily life. Try these strategies to find a positive balance in your life.

Make Time For Fun And Laughter

It’s extremely important to find a balance between relaxing, working, exercising and meditating. Make time to hang out with your favorite people, go for a walk or meditate. A simple smile can change a negative into a positive!

Reduce Screen Time

When you spend more time offline, you will realize you aren’t feeling as stressed. Also, constantly looking down at your phone can create spinal alignment issues. Turning your devices off will get your head up, creating a better posture. Who knows -you may even discover things you have been missing out on in life!

Nutrition

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.” – Thomas Edison

Nutrition is an essential element of our health. Remember that the nervous system controls all of the organs and cells in your body. While chiropractic restores proper function to the nervous system, nutrients in the foods we consume enable the cells in our bodies to perform their necessary functions. Nutrition and chiropractic care go hand in hand, it is important to pay attention to both aspects of your health to bring about the best outcomes possible. Below are a couple tips about nutrition to help get you started.

Drink More Water To Stay Hydrated

Your body is approximately 60% water with some of your vital organs made up of nearly 85% water! Every aspect of your body, down to every cell, needs water to survive. Water is a key component in the healing process by getting rid of toxins and allowing the body to utilize nutrients from the foods you eat.

Practice Mindful Eating

Pay attention to your reason for eating. Focus on eating to maintain your overall health and well-being. Eat slowly and without distraction.

Rest

“There is virtue in work and there is virtue in rest. Use both and overlook neither.” – Alan Cohen

Rest involves sleep and relaxation. During rest, you should take a break from activity and refrain from exertion. Rest is an important component of chiropractic care as it can help to decrease stress and allow time for your body to heal. When you sleep at night, your body uses this time to recharge and heal from injury or illness. Getting enough rest will help you wake up refreshed so you can handle the physical and emotional demands experienced in your daily life. Here are a couple of tips for you to consider.

Get A Good Night’s Sleep

The number of hours you spend in bed is not as important as the quality of sleep you get. Try some of the following suggestions to improve your quality of sleep. 1) Try to avoid watching TV, or using any other electronic device for at least an hour before you would like to fall asleep. This will let your brain unwind, allowing you to fall asleep more quickly. 2) Avoid stimulants, like caffeine, in the evening. 3) Try setting a schedule to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day.

Find Time To Unwind And Enjoy Life

Taking time away from the daily grind of work and chores allows you to focus on activities that rejuvenate your energy stores. Find time to laugh and have fun as doing so can speed up the healing process.

Exercise

“Exercise is the key not only to physical health but to peace of mind.” – Nelson Mandela
